We are just a day away from ISRO‘s final mission of 2025. The LVM3-M6/BlueBird Block-2 mission is scheduled to liftoff on December 24 at 8:54 am IST from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota to deploy AST SpaceMobile’s broadband satellite.

It will mark the LVM3 rocket, India’s heaviest launch vehicle’s, last mission of this year and the sixth operational flight to date.

⏳ 24 hours to go! #LVM3M6 is set to launch the BlueBird Block-2 spacecraft tomorrow from SDSC SHAR.

Final countdown begins. Stay tuned for live updates.

Where to watch the launch live?

ISRO will stream the launch live on its official YouTube channel (link below). The webcast will begin 30 minutes prior to scheduled liftoff – at 8:24 am.

You can also tune in to AST SpaceMobile’s YouTube channel to watch it live around the same time.

ISRO’s LVM3 ready with its heaviest payload

Standing 43.5 metres tall, the three-stage LVM3 rocket has a payload capacity of 4,200 kg to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). It has previously launched two OneWeb internet satellite missions, Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 and most recently the CMS-03 mission for the Indian Navy.

According to ISRO’s statement, the BlueBird Block-2 satellite, will be the largest commercial communications satellite to be deployed in low-Earth orbit. It will also be LVM3’s heaviest payload launching from Indian soil.

The BlueBird 6 satellite has the largest commercial phased array at around 2,400 square feet and is 3.5 times bigger than older BlueBird satellites, per AST SpaceMobile. BlueBird satellites are designed to provide space-based cellular broadband connectivity directly to standard mobile smartphones.

The countdown begins! BlueBird 6 is planned to launch on December 23, 2025 at 10:24 p.m. EST.

“The mission marks the start of our next phase of execution, with a launch planned every 45 days on average during 2026, as we continue building space-based cellular broadband connectivity for all,” the company said in a statement.

Notably, BlueBird 7 is already in motion as it has been shipped from Texas to Cape Canaveral, Florida – the next launch destination. The satellite will be similar in size to BlueBird 6 and will be launched atop SpaceX‘s Falcon 9 rocket. AST SpaceMobile revealed on Sunday that BlueBirds 8-25 are in various stages of assembly, integration, and testing.
